• Was anchor of the defense on Bruins' 1954 national championship team
• Was also a 2-time Pacific Coast Intercollegiate wrestling champ.

ACCOLADES

• Earned consensus All-American honors in 1954.
• Finished 7th in Heisman Trophy voting in 1954.
• Inducted into UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987.
