TERRY DONAHUE
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
- Lettered as defensive lineman in 1965,66. Playing under Coach Tommy Prothro.
- During those two seasons, Donahue started all 21 games and the Bruins compiled a record of 17-3-1, including a memorable upset of unbeaten Michigan State in the 1966 Rose Bowl.
COACHING HIGHLIGHTS
- Was the longest tenured head coach for UCLA, leading the Bruins for 20 years from 1976 to 1995.
- Compiled a record of 151-74-8 (0.665)
- His teams went to 13 Bowl games, including eight straight appearances and four Rose Bowl appearances. This was a record at the time. The Bruins won eight straight Bowl games.
- The Bruins won or shared five Pac-10 championships during his tenure.
- His teams ranked in the Top 10 nationally five times.
- During his 20 years, Donahue developed 34 first team All-American selections as well as the only three-time consensus All-Americans in Pac-10 history - linebacker Jerry Robinson and safety Kenny Easley.
- Was the winningest coach in the Pac-10 (98 conference wins), as well as the winningest coach in UCLA history.
- Served as an offensive line assistant to Pepper Rodgers and Vermeil, Dick.
- He succeeded Vermeil after Vermeil resigned to coach in the NFL.
ACCOLADES
- Inducted into UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.
- Inducted into College Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
